Direct TV

Sometimes this is very difficult to choose between something, especially when it is all about free time and money. You just cannot decide what to choose and feel frustrated. But sometimes people know for sure what kind of relaxation they need. Someone can just sit calm for a few minutes and then get back to their crazy life, the other person prefer to read some relaxing book or look through a magazine, another one - to watch TV show. And such company as Direct TV can provide its customers with a huge selection of TV shows, channels, and so much more. And thousands of Direct TV subscribers prove that watching TV is still one of the most popular ways of relaxation.

About Direct TV. Direct TV is a direct broadcast satellite service company. The company is headquartered in El Segundo, California. Direct TV is considered to be the leading company in the telecommunication industry. Direct TV provides its customers with a lot of various products related to satellite television that include digital satellite television and digital satellite audio to its subscribers across the USA, the Caribbean and in the countries in Latin America. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Direct TV Group, which is in its turn owned by News Corporation. Besides, the company provides vehicle and aircraft mobile service. Direct TV does not operate in Mexico. Direct TV has abandoned this market in 2004 though the company was the only broadcaster, which had license to broadcast the 2002 FIFA World Cup. DirecTV transmits digital satellite television and audio to the homes, bars, fitness clubs, cafes and restaurants all over the North American continent.

DirecTV complaints. Most of the complaints against the company are about the horrible customer care. DirecTV company has a lot of call centers in the United States and abroad. It sells its services via the telephone with the help of some telemarketing companies. And sometimes those representatives are really very rude with the customers or hardly can speak English. In 2005 the company even had to pay the penalty for the violations of the telemarketing regulations. This was a $5 million worth penalty, the largest in the history of the customer protection law. Nowadays, the DirecTV call centers continue their work, but the company claims to monitor and control their work severely to avoid this thing happen again.

I signed up for $29.99 and taxes for 150 channels, I insisted that the representative makes sure of his offer because I did not want any surprises in my bills. My bills started coming at $34.99 and taxes. When I tried to explain it to them, they thought I was trying to be smart and get a lower price. I had the confirmation number and the name of the agent, but they didn't care. Now the reception on most of the channels I watch is really bad, I called customer service, and they said a technician has to come out and there will be a one time fee of $79.99 or I can choose to pay $29 at first and 5.99 for 6 months. So I guess I'm gonna have to be paying a higher amount than I was offered, and not able to enjoy my shows for 18 months...

Buyer Beware.....
I have been a Direct TV customer since 2001. Recently, we canceled our account due to lousy customer service among other reasons. We were very surprised that because we purchased a receiver from Circuit City in 2/07 that we were automatically signed up for another 18 mos contract. Needless, to say we were surprised to find we were charged a $220.00 penalty for canceling our service early. You would think that 7 years of service would count for something, not.. Beware there is no contract to sign, it is automatically done without your knowledge or consent. I consider this to be fraud...
